So I was sitting in traffic the other day when I saw they were working on replacing this awning on a building near my house . I noticed the old paint underneath and thought “cool” since I am a bit of a vintage junkie and love old brick painted ads.

As I started to drive away I quickly put the logo and the “ RY” together and realized this must of been an old Mercury dealership. I went home and found this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that lists dealerships and indeed, this was the Krebs & King Company dealership. I couldn’t find anymore information beyond that the Krebs sold the building in 1985, but I would really like to know how long that paint has been underneath that awning.

Any Mercury fans out there know when they stopped using the God Mercury logo?

Quick look has the head on hubcaps at least until 1968, but I bet this sign is 10 or more years earlier.

I would guess it was painted sometime in late 1959/early 1960 , when the dealership would have switched from Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln to Lincoln-Mercury.
